Michaels Status
Michael is in REMISSION
Michael was diagnosed May 1st 2009 with Stage IV Cancer. He has Hepatoblastoma that has moved to the lungs. He is on Cisplatin, Doxorubin, 5FU and Vincristine to shrink the tumor in the liver and lungs. His resting chemo is Irinotecan and Vincristine. When we started his AFP (cancer cell numbers was 66000). Doctors did not give him very good odds. I think it was 5% chase of survival. But then God took over, prayer started and his tumor is now gone from his liver. The nodules in the lungs are stabilized and except for one new nodule that has show up on the December 2009 scans, but has remained stabilized. The stabilized nodules may be scar tissue. Michael had his last round of Chemo. we hope. If the chemo kills that last nodule then we will start our process of waiting, labs. The scans are done for now after only 3.5 years. The last scan in January looked good. When we got his new scans they only saw one very small nodule. Blood workup done in January also was only 1.6 AFP. It was the best so far. We still have blood workups to get done for the next few years. Michael will move to Long Term Care soon. Michael just had his Summer tests done. Michael again gained hearing. This is not suppose to happen but it did. He regained a crucial megahertz range for his hearing. He now is at 85% in his speech and we continue to work with him on pronouncing words. He has also experienced a shut down of the left artery do to his biopsy, but the blood has rerouted and the doctors are keeping a close eye on it.
